GREEN BEGINNINGS: The Story of How We Built Our Green & SustainabGreen Beginnings Wins Gold Medal at First Annual Living Now Book Awards

le Home
by
husband-and-wife authors authors Avrim and Vicki Topel has received unanimous praise from three nationally acclaimed authorities with widely different perspectives.
Green Beginnings Won Gold Medal at First Annual Living Now Book Awards
The book is the first of its kind to be written from a homeowner’s perspective based upon experiential knowledge. The book uses the true story of learning about, planning and building a U.S. Green Building Council LEED Silver (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) home complete with the real life experiences that come along with such an undertaking as a venue to explain green homes. 114 sequentially presented color photographs document the actual construction process, and a glossary provides readers a valuable resource to aid in comprehension.

"Hot, Flat and Crowded" Why we need a green revolution and how it can renew America by Thomas Friedman
He looks at the Climate issue from an Economic perspective and argues a "systematic" approach to solving the problems we face.

"Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed" by Jared Diamond
This is a historical perspective on the ecological impact of past civilizations. It can be very wordy and technical at times, but he shows that our societies do not have to have first world technology to destroy their envirnoments.
